A.R. Morris Jewelers, Greenville, DE

The specifications:

Our client had an opportunity to move his store location to a larger space in a lifestyle center.  The store was 2250 square feet, a virtual square with large windows on two sides.

Client’s Challenge

This space was not quite as big as our client would have liked.  He wanted a new Rolex boutique, space for his other authorized watch brands, a large diamond area with a semi private space for loose diamonds, a Forevermark boutique and much linear footage for diamond, coloured stone and fashion jewelry.  Security was necessary because of the large windows.  Services to customers were to include a bathroom, jewelry cleaning and simple repairs on site.  The staff needed work stations, a large cash/wrap area, a safe room, a staff room and a private area to work off the floor.  GRID/3 met and exceeded these Planning Challenges.

GRID/3 Solution

A large island of showcases ensures good footage.  Make it large enough and work stations fit inside.  Working closely with Rolex and Forevermark, we were able to include visually strong, convenient boutiques.  The support space in the back was squeezed as tightly as possible – our client gets a special rose for his suggestion to install a small mop sink behind the cash/wrap desk; GRID/3 designed the cases so that it worked but was not an eyesore.  We turned a potential problem into a feature by enclosing the roller grilles that pull down over the windows in a beam between side columns, cladding these enclosures in a stunning wallcovering.  We worked closely with our clients on the materials and finishes – they chose some; GRID/3 chose others.

Final Word

This project came to fruition through the teamwork of our client, A.R.Morris, GRID/3 and the contractors, Atlantic Store Fixtures and Pettinaro Construction.  We took advantage of the high ceiling by creating a recessed area finished in gold with 3 custom gold tone light fixtures.  Our client loves the new design and has told us that sales are up.
